Nuisance Complaint Investigations
The purpose of the Athens City-County Health Department Public Health Nuisance Program is to protect the community against housing or other nuisance conditions the could adversely affect the health and welfare of individuals in the community. Some examples of public health nuisances include food service operation complaints, sewage, solid waste, illegal dumping, or unsanitary housing complaints.
In order for this office to investigate a complaint, a nuisance complaint form must be completely filled out and submitted to this office. Once a nuisance complaint is filed with our office it becomes a public record. Anyone may obtain a copy of a complaint file upon request. PLEASE NOTE: All housing complaint within the city limits of Athens or Nelsonville must be sent to the respective city code enforcement office linked below.
